Upper level high pressure (“Arch” shape with blue arrows) has taken over again to warm us up quickly. An upper level low will start cooling us down as a cold front will be approaching the Pacific Northwest Saturday bringing the temperatures back down to normal again.

Note: Join Willamette Riverkeeper and our friends at City of Eugene Parks & Open Space for a mid-summer river clean up to help clear debris and trash from Alton Baker, Skinner’s Butte and Maurie Jacobs greenway areas along the river. Trash bags, gloves, and pickers provided. We’ll meet at the East Shelter in Alton Baker Park at 9AM for registration, safety talk, and group breakouts. Willamette Riverkeeper will supply bags, gloves, pickers. Bring your passion for clean rivers, a water bottle, and wear long sleeves, pants and sturdy shoes.

Advisories:

  • A Blue-Green Algae health advisory remains in effect for Howard Bay (sometimes called Howards Bay or Howard’s Bay) in Upper Klamath Lake. It now includes all of Agency and Upper Klamath Lakes. People should avoid swallowing water while swimming or inhaling water droplets as a result of high-speed water activities, such as water skiing or power boating, in areas where blooms are identified. Although toxins are not absorbed through the skin, people who have skin sensitivities may experience a puffy, red rash at the affected area.
