It’s time for my weekly weather quiz question. The United States launched its first weather (TIROS) satellite on April 1, 1960. Now we have many of them. One group of weather satellites is designated as G.O.E.S. What do the letters stand for?  Please post your answer as a comment after the forecasts on this page. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. Good luck.

_______________

An upper level upper level High Pressure ridge (“Arch” shaped area) will strengthen and keep us dry for a little while longer. An upper level trough of low pressure (the “U” shaped  area over the Gulf of Alaska) will start changing our weather and help send moisture ahead of a cold front that will be approaching the coast Thursday. That’s when the slight chance of rain will return just in time for the Ducks game.

Advisories: NONE AT THIS TIME.
