An upper level high pressure ridge (Shaded “Arch” shape with blue arrows) brings out the sun and keeps the rain away for another day. An upper level low pressure trough (Shaded “U” shape area with blue arrows) will start sending disturbances our way.  The days 3 through 7 graphic shows the parade of storms headed our way including the next one coming for the weekend.

Note: Don’t forget that Daylight Saving Time ends and Standard Time begins at 2 AM Sunday. Turn your clocks back (Fall Back) at bedtime Saturday night. The Fire Department warns that you should check the batteries in your smoke detectors, Co2 detectors and Radon detectors. Replace batteries if necessary.

Advisories:

  • A FROST ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FROM 2 AM UNTIL 8 AM FRIDAY FOR JACKSON COUNTY.
  • A HIGH SURF ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM THIS EVENING FOR THE SOUTH CENTRAL ORGON COAST AND THE CURRY COUNTY COAST.
  • A Blue-green Algae Health Advisory has been issued for Howard Bay located in Upper Klamath Lake. Water monitoring on the lake has confirmed the presence of high levels of blue-green algae and associated toxins that can be harmful to people and animals. Swallowing water while swimming or inhaling water droplets as a result of high-speed water activities, such as water skiing and power boating, should be avoided in areas where blooms are identified. Although toxins are not absorbed through the skin, contact with cells from a bloom can cause skin irritation and a red, puffy rash in individuals with skin sensitivities, or those who develop rashes easily. Cell counts in other parts of the lake were low.
  • A Permanent Health Advisory is in effect for the South Umpqua River and Lawson Bar. Pools in the bedrock along the rivers edge are known to develop Blue-green Algae (cyanobacterial) blooms that can be harmful to pets and people if accidental ingestion occurs. Signs have been posted along several access areas along the river.
  • A Blue-Green Algae Health Advisory remains in effect for Agency Lake. Agency Lake is located just north of Upper Klamath Lake near Klamath Falls along Highway 97 in Klamath County.
