Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. What is “AFOS?”AFOS is Automation of Field Operations and Services. Computer system linking NWS offices for the transmission of weather data. This system was installed in the early to mid 1980s and it is being replaced by Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS). I’ll have a new weekly weather quiz question for you starting Monday. Please remember to post your answer at the bottom of this page. An email will not suffice. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs.  Good luck.

An Upper Level High Pressure Ridge is keeping the precipitation away, but it’s allowing late night/Early AM freezing fog. I got bitten by the Friday the 13th curse and instead of clouds and sun and warmer Friday the clouds and fog remained in the Eugene-Springfield area at the southern end of the Willamette Valley. The graphic for days 3-7 shows more frontal systems heading our way through next week. For mountain snow conditions at the local ski areas check out their websites or give them a call.
