Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. What is “AFOS?”AFOS is Automation of Field Operations and Services. Computer system linking NWS offices for the transmission of weather data. This system was installed in the early to mid 1980s and it is being replaced by Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS). I’ll have a new weekly weather quiz question for you starting Monday. Please remember to post your answer at the bottom of this page. An email will not suffice. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs.  Good luck.

An Upper Level High Pressure Ridge is keeping the precipitation away, but it’s allowing late night/Early AM freezing fog and still well below normal daytime high temperatures. An Upper Level Low Pressure Trough (Shaded “U” shape with blue arrows) will help return the advance of front systems with precipitation. The graphic for days 3-7 shows more frontal systems heading our way Thursday Saturday and Monday of next week. For mountain snow conditions at the local ski areas check out their websites or give them a call.
