Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. What is  “Air Stagnation?” Here is the correct answer. Air Stagnation is a meteorological situation in which there is a major buildup of air pollution in the atmosphere. This usually occurs when the same air mass is parked over the same area for several days. During this time, the light winds cannot “cleanse” the buildup of smoke, dust, gases, and other industrial air pollution. I’ll have a new weekly weather quiz question for you starting Monday. Please remember to post your answer at the bottom of this page. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs.  Good luck.

An Upper Level Low Pressure Trough (Shaded “U” shape with blue arrows) is controlling our weather for the foreseeable future. The graphic for days 1-3 shows the complex frontal system moving through the Pacific Northwest bringing rain and then snow. The worst of the storm struck from Salem North through Portland.  The graphic for days 3-7 shows another very active complex frontal system heading our way by late next week. For mountain snow conditions at the local ski areas check out their websites or give them a call.
