Here is the question again. How did amorous minks nearly cause an international incident? Here is the answer. Several years after the end of the Cold War the Swedish government revealed the embarrassing story. For decades they complained about detecting submarines from some “world power” cruising dangerously close to their coastlines. Turns out what Swedish sonar operators were tracking were the squeals and squeaks of mink who love to frolic and mate in shallow coastal waters. The Swedish government never offered an apology to the Russians for accusing them of illegal submarine activity along their coastline. Oops! There will be a new quiz question next week starting Monday.
