Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. What is a “Cold Air Funnel“? Here is the correct answer. A Cold Air Funnel is a funnel cloud or (rarely) a small, relatively weak tornado that can develop from a small shower or thunderstorm when the air aloft is unusually cold (hence the name). They are much less violent than other types of tornadoes. I’ll have a new weekly weather quiz question for you starting Monday. The first person to post the correct answer as a comment on this page will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs.  Good luck.

An Upper Level Low Pressure Trough (Shaded “U” shape with blue arrows) has moved closer taking over from the High Pressure and enhancing the chance for precipitation. The graphics for days days 1-3 show the next frontal system moving into Oregon Monday. The graphics for days 3-7 show the complex frontal systems starting to move toward and then across the Pacific Northwest Tuesday through next Thursday.

Note: The overnight air quality in Eugene/Springfield and Oakridge has improved enough  for the Home Wood Heating Advisory to be lowered to Yellow.
