An Upper Level High Pressure Ridge tries to take the precipitation chances down and out. The graphics for days 1-3 show a frontal system stalled well to our north. The graphics for days 3-7 show surface high pressure holding on through next Friday.
Note: Mt. Ashland is having their Midwinter Jam today February 2nd. Check their website for details. Hoodoo is open and will be having their Winter Carnival February 10th. Check their website for details. And Willamette Pass reports opening today Friday February 2nd through Sunday for limited low snow operations. Check their website for details.
A survey of 7 Groundhog reports from the US and Canada shows 5 saw their shadows and 2 did not. When you take into account my groundhog the decision is 6 to 2 in favor of six more weeks of winter. Phil, the nation’s official Groundhog, saw his shadow this morning predicting six more weeks of winter. Spencer Butte Bob, my personal Groundhog in South Eugene also saw his shadow this morning. That too predicts six more weeks of winter, but if our current weather is the winter he predicts that will last that’s as good as an early spring.
