Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. What is a “Dart Leader?” Here is the correct answer. A Dart Leader is a faint, negatively charged channel that travels more or less directly and continuously from cloud to ground. (It moves down and the lightning flash moves from the ground up.) I’ll have a new weekly weather quiz question for you starting Monday. The first person to post the correct answer as a comment on this page will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs.  Good luck.

An Upper Level Low Pressure Trough (Shaded “U” shape with arrows) slides eastward bringing us colder Arctic air coming through Canada with northwesterly airflow rushing down on the backside of the low which is also the leading edge of a Ridge of High Pressure. The graphics for days 1-3 show the frontal system that is moving through Oregon today. The graphics for days 3-7 show the surface activity including the frontal system the will move through next Friday night and Saturday.
