A weak high pressure ridge will keep things dry for a while as a surface warm front raises the temperatures a  bit. The next cold front will hold off moving in until late Thanksgiving Day through Friday.

For the Willamette Valley: Today will see a mix of clouds and sun after patchy AM fog high 56 and tonight increasing clouds to mostly cloudy low 41. Thanksgiving Day will be mostly cloudy with a (40%) chance of rain in the morning, then rain likely (60% chance) in the afternoon and at night as that next storm system approaches high 52 low 37. Mostly cloudy showers likely (60%) Friday and a slight  (20%) chance of rain Friday night high 48 low 38. Look for a slight (20%) chance of showers Saturday and Saturday night high 47 low 34 . Patchy AM fog then mostly cloudy Sunday and Sunday night high 48 low 35. Mostly cloudy Monday after patchy AM fog  high 49, then a (30%) chance of showers at night  low 36.  Tuesday will be mostly cloudy with a slight (20%) chance of showers high 45 low 38. For the Umpqua Basin and along the coast conditions will be about the same as the Willamette Valley except that temperatures will be a couple of degrees warmer .

For the Cascades: The free air freezing level will be rising to 10,000′ today, dropping to 8,000′ at night. The snow level will fall to 7,000′ Thanksgiving day and 5,000′ to 4,500′ after midnight. The snow level falls to 3,000′ Friday through Saturday and 4,000′ Saturday night. Sunday and Sunday night the freezing level rises from 6,000′ to 8,000′. Monday it’s a  snow level of 7,000′, 6,000′ at night and 5,500′ Tuesday . Locally both Hoodoo and Willamette Pass ski resorts will open for the season Friday the day after Thanksgiving for the Holiday weekend.

Here is another chance to answer this week’s weather quiz question. In the U.S. how many states are members of the “60 Below Club”? That means they recorded all-time low temperatures at -60 degrees F. or less. You’re really good if you can name all of those states too. Please put your answer as a comment after this post. The first person to correctly answer the question will win one free week of personalized forecasts tailored to their needs.
