Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. What is  “Doppler Radar?”  Here is the correct answer. Doppler Radar is radar that can measure radial velocity, the instantaneous component of motion parallel to the radar beam (i.e., toward or away from the radar antenna).  I’ll have a new weekly weather quiz for you starting Monday. The first person to post the correct answer as a comment on this page will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. Good luck.

The graphics for days 1-3 show the next frontal system moving through Oregon between today and Sunday just in time for the Eugene Marathon.  An Upper Level Low Pressure Trough (Shaded “U” shape with arrows) has returned cooler temperatures and precipitation chances our way continuing through next Tuesday. The graphics for days 3-7 show no major frontal systems in the Pacific Northwest through next Saturday.

Note: You might want to look to the Southeast just after sunset this Sunday April 29th to see the conjunction of the Moon and Jupiter. You might see them if the clouds thin out enough. Good luck.
