__________

Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. What is a “Downburst?”  Here is the correct answer.  A Downburst is a strong downdraft current of air from a cumulonimbus cloud, often associated with intense thunderstorms. Downdrafts may produce damaging winds at the surface. I’ll have a new weekly weather quiz question for you starting Monday. The first person to post the correct answer as a comment on this page will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. Good luck.

An Upper Level High Pressure Ridge (Shaded “Arch” shape with arrows) weakened enough to allow onshore flow which brought us more clouds, some showers, and thunderstorms. Now that ridge strengthens once again. The graphics for days 1-3 show a surface low moving over Oregon. The graphics for days 3-7 show the frontal system that moves through Tuesday night into Wednesday, then another frontal system pushes through Thursday. Yet another frontal system will move in by next Sunday night into Monday.
