  • A FLASH FLOOD ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE TONIGHT FOR HARNEY COUNTY, BAKER COUNTY, AND MALHEUR COUNTY. UP TO 2 IN. OF RAIN POSSIBLE.
  • A FLOOD ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9:15 PM TONIGHT FOR EASTERN DOUGLAS COUNTY, LAKE COUNTY, AND KLAMATH COUNTY.

HEALTH ADVISORIES:

  • THE OREGON HEALTH AUTHORITY HAS ISSUED A HEALTH ADVISORY FOR DETROIT LAKE, LOCATED 46 MILES SE OF SALEM. THE LAKE SPANS BOTH LINN AND MARION COUNTIES. WATER MONITORING HAS CONFIRMED THE PRESENCE OF BLUE-GREEN ALGAE AND THE TOXINS THEY PRODUCE IN DETROIT LAKE. PEOPLE SHOULD AVOID SWALLOWING WATER, OR INHALING WATER DROPLETS AS A RESULT OF HIGH-SPEED WATER ACTIVITIES, SUCH AS WATER SKIING OR POWER BOATING, IN AREAS WHERE BLOOMS ARE IDENTIFIED. ALSO KEEP PETS AWAY FROM THE WATER.
  • A PUBLIC HEALTH ADVISORY FOR HIGHER-THAN-NORMAL LEVELS OF BACTERIA IN OCEAN WATERS AT SUNSET BAY STATE PARK BEACH IN COOS COUNTY HAS BEEN CANCELLED. AUTHORITIES SAY IT IS SAFE TO CONTINUE OTHER ACTIVITIES ON THE BEACH THAT DO NOT INCLUDE CONTACT WITH ANY WATER THAT POOLS ON THE BEACH THAT COULD BE CONTAMINATED BY BIRD OR OTHER ANIMAL FECAL MATTER.
  • A PERMANENT HEALTH ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER BAR. POOLS IN THE BEDROCK ALONG THE RIVERS EDGE ARE KNOWN TO DEVELOP BLUE-GREEN ALGAE (CYANOBACTERIAL) BLOOMS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SIGNS HAVE BEEN POSTED ALONG SEVERAL ACCESS AREAS ALONG THE  RIVER.
