__________

Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. What are “Flashboards?” Here is the correct answer. Flashboards in hydrologic terms are a length of timber, concrete, or steel placed on the crest of a spillway to raise the retention water level but which may be quickly removed in the event of a flood by a tripping device, or by deliberately designed failure of the flashboard or its supports  I’ll have a new weekly weather quiz question for you starting Monday. The first person to post the correct answer as a comment on this page will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. Good luck.

An Upper Level High Pressure Ridge (Shaded “Arch” shape formed by arrows) has strengthened again keeping us in the 90s for a while yet. The graphics for days 3-7  show no major frontal systems heading our way Wednesday through next Saturday, but surface thermal trough (L with dashed lines) along with the upper ridge will help keep the heat turned up. By next Sunday there will be a frontal system approaching the coast.
