Congratulations Big Daddy Chris you are the winner. Here is my weather quiz question for the last time. What is the free air freezing level? Here is your answer: Isn’t the free air freezing level the altitude point where the tempurature drops to freezing? 32 f or 0 c. so if you live above that level you can expect it to be freezing or lower. Here is and expanded answer. The free air freezing level is referring to the height at which the temperature of the atmosphere drops to 0 deg C. The ”free air” freezing level is meant to distinguish in complex terrain such as mountains between subfreezing air which can settle in low areas such as valleys due to temperature inversions and the actual freezing level which is aloft in the atmosphere. I’ll have another weekly weather quiz question for you starting next Monday. You’ll post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments”in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count.

The upper air flow is bending more from the west and southwest bringing in warmer, but still very moist air into the Pacific Northwest. A frontal system has brought some warmer air in, so you can forget about the freezing rain and snow for a while at least. More storms will be headed toward us like this one that will move in Saturday .
