Here is my weekly weather quiz question. What is “Lake Effect Snow?

Another Upper Level Low Pressure Trough (“U” shape) is moving slowly eastward with an Upper Level High Pressure Ridge (“Arch” shape) moving in behind it to clear skies and keep us dry for bit. The graphics for days 1-3 show the cold front that moved through the Pacific Northwest and the next one behind it. The graphics for days 3-7 Sunday through Thursday show the continuing series of complex frontal systems that will slide into the Pacific Northwest through the period.
Note: Willamette Pass, Hoodoo, and Mt. Ashland are still open for skiing. With the heavy snow pack the ski season is booming. Check their Web Sites for specific dates and times of operation.
