Here is my new weekly weather quiz question. What is a “Lightning Channel?

An Upper Level Low  is moving eastward and will weaken the moisture flow to the Pacific Northwest. A surface low with it associated cold front are shown approaching the California coast keeping the weaker flow of coastal moisture still aimed our way. The graphics for days 1-3  show the frontal system, as described above, apparently falling as part as it makes landfall. The graphics for days 3-7  Thursday through next Monday show a quiet weather pattern.
