A Lightning Channel is the irregular path through the air along which a lightning discharge occurs. A typical discharge of flash between the ground and the cloud is actually a composite flash which is composed of several sequential lightning strokes, each of which is initiated by a leader and terminated by a return streamer.

A blocking  Upper Level High Pressure Ridge (“Arch” shape) has taken over bringing a heat wave. The graphics for days 1-3  show system, show no frontal systems approaching the Pacific Northwest. The graphics for days 3-7  Wednesday through next Sunday show a quiet weather pattern with a complex frontal system lingering offshore through Thursday and then pushing through Oregon next Friday and Saturday.
