Sorry, no winner for my weekly weather quiz question this week. Here is the question for the last time. Why are clouds white? It’s actually pretty easy. Clouds are white because they reflect the light of the sun. Light is made up of colors of the rainbow and when you add them all together you get white. The sun appears a yellow color because it sends out more yellow light than any other color. Clouds reflect all the colors the exact same amount so they look white. I’ll have a new weekly weather quiz question for you starting Monday. Please post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized  weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count.

The jet stream shows a high pressure ridge (shaded “arch” shaped area with blue arrows) moving Eastward over the Pacific Northwest and a dip in the jet (a small trough of low pressure falling in behind it. The  computer models indicate a wet weather pattern will begin as a frontal system moves in from the west today. Another cold front will try to push down from the North Sunday night Monday with the potential of bringing some cold Arctic air with it. Remember that, particularly this time of the year, when it’s not raining it is usually fogging and we’ve had some pretty dense fog lately.
