Here is my weekly weather quiz question. What is “Orographic Lifting?”
_________________
Frontal systems are moving through Oregon brought rain pushed by Atmospheric Rivers. An Upper Level High Pressure Ridge (“Arch” shape) is trying to hold off the cold front. The graphics for days 1-3 show the cold front is that was expected to move through. That’s why we saw some sunshine this afternoon. The graphics for days 3-7 Monday through Friday show active frontal systems moving through the Eastern Pacific region.
Note: The Winter Solstice occurs at 7:27 pm Thursday December 21st as the official beginning of astronomical Winter.
