Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time  What is the “PDSI?” Here is the correct answer. PDSI is the Palmer Drought Severity Index – an index used to gage the severity of drought conditions by using a water balance equation to track water supply and demand. This index is calculated weekly by the National Weather Service.
_______________
An Upper Level High Pressure Ridge (“Arch” shape) has been helping to pump unseasonably warm air over the Pacific Northwest, but that’s going to change.  The graphics for days 1-3  show the complex frontal system moving through Oregon Monday. The graphics for days 3-7   Tuesday through Saturday show complex frontal systems  approaching the Pacific Northwest.
Note: A check on the many groundhog predictions Friday shows they all predict an early Spring, But Spencer Butte Bob, My personal Groundhog, did see his shadow Friday morning (sunshine and clouds) in Eugene predicting six more weeks of winter. If our current weather indicates what the rest of Winter will be like then I’ll take it.
