Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. What is “Permafrost?” Here is the correct answer. Permafrost is a layer of soil at varying depths below the surface in which the temperature has remained below freezing continuously from a few to several thousands of years.

The Upper Level Low Pressure Trough has been moving eastward and has helped move the Atmospheric River southward away from California. The graphics for days 1-3 show a frontal system moving through Oregon today. The graphics for days 3-7 Wednesday through Sunday show active weather with complex frontal systems approaching the Pacific Northwest.
