Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. “What is a “Radiosonde?” Here is the correct answer. A Radiosonde is an instrument that is carried aloft by a balloon to send back information on atmospheric temperature, pressure and humidity by means of a small, expendable radio transmitter. Radiosondes can be tracked by radar, radio direction finding, or navigation systems (such as the satellite Global Positioning System) to obtain wind data. See also rawinsonde.

A strong Upper Level Low Pressure Trough (“U” shape) is moving into the Pacific Northwest to be followed by a building Upper Level High Pressure Ridge next week. The graphics for days 1-3  show a frontal system approaching the Pacific Northwest today and tonight. The graphics for days 3-7    Tuesday through Saturday show frontal systems moving over the Pacific Northwest Wednesday and Friday.
