Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. “What is a “Radiosonde?” Here is the correct answer. A Radiosonde is an instrument that is carried aloft by a balloon to send back information on atmospheric temperature, pressure and humidity by means of a small, expendable radio transmitter. Radiosondes can be tracked by radar, radio direction finding, or navigation systems (such as the satellite Global Positioning System) to obtain wind data.

The graphics for days 3-7     Wednesday through Sunday show a frontal system offshore next Saturday moving across the Pacific Northwest Saturday through next Sunday.
