Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. “What is a “Rain Induced Fog?” Here is the correct answer.  Rain Induced Fog is when warm rain falls through cooler air, water evaporates from the warm rain. It subsequently condenses in the cool air forming fog. Such fog can be quite dense. It generally will persist as long as the rain continues. Since temperature rises little during the day, there is little diurnal variation in rain induced fog. Improvement in visibility cannot be expected until the rain stops or moves out of the affected area.

An Upper Level Low Pressure Trough (“U” shape) brought the Pacific Northwest a small chance of rain. Now it’s time for dry weather and sunshine.  The graphics for days 1-3  show the cold front that moved through Oregon Saturday for cooling and a few showers. The next front is on the way. The graphics for days 3-7  Wednesday through Sunday show a frontal system that moves across the Pacific Northwest between by Wednesday.  Another frontal system will weaken and push in Friday, then a complex frontal system will be offshore headed our way next Saturday.
