Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. What is a “Texas Hooker “? (No, not that kind of hooker.) Here is the correct answer. A Texas Hooker – Same as Panhandle Hook – low pressure systems that originate in the panhandle region of Texas and Oklahoma which initially move east and then “hook” or recurve more northeast toward the upper Midwest or Great Lakes region. In winter, these systems usually deposit heavy snows north of their surface track. Thunderstorms may be found south of the track.

Another strong Upper Level Low Pressure Trough (“U” shape) will continue pushing frontal systems to come our way with rain and wind. The graphics for days 1-3 show the frontal system that’s moving through Oregon today and the next one approaching the coast Tuesday. The graphics for days 3-7 Wednesday through Sunday show complex frontal activity through the period.
