Here is my new weekly weather quiz question. In the Fall the leaves change colors and fall from the trees. What causes the leaves to change colors? Please post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized  weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.
_______________
The jet stream shows a trough of low pressure ( “U” shaped area) swinging through the Pacific Northwest with another one following behind it. A frontal system moved through the area bringing a mixture of sunshine  and wet weather. A weak, short lived high pressure ridge (small “Arch” shape moving over us) will stop the rain temporarily. We’ll see another frontal system move in Tuesday followed by another Wednesday and Wednesday night. It’s been a long time coming, but a high pressure ridge (“arch” shape shown at the end of the jet stream movie) will build in late in the week warming us up a bit so it will feel more like Spring. It’s about time. It still looks like the rain will still hang around though.
