Weak, short lived high pressure dried us out a bit. A strong upper air trough of low pressure (“U” shape in the jet stream will be rolling through Oregon keeping the moisture level up. A frontal system moved southward on the California coast spinning some moisture northward, but not reaching us. Another frontal system will push southward into Oregon bringing colder air south producing falling temperatures and falling snow levels as the next cold front sweeps through just in time for Thanksgiving which will be wet and there may be some new snow in the mountains for the skiers.

Sorry, but no winner for this week’s weather quiz question.

________________

Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. Since the Hurricane season  for this year is almost over (it ends November 30th) I thought this would be an interesting question. What is the longest period of time on record without a hurricane hitting the United States? Here is the answer. The longest period on record without a hurricane hitting the United States is 3 years and 7 days from when Hurricane Allen hit Brownsville, Texas August 10,1980 to Hurricane Alicia that hit Galveston, Texas August 17, 1983. I’ll have a new weekly weather quiz question for you starting next Monday. Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count.

Advisories:  NONE AT THIS TIME.

Weak, short lived high pressure will dry us out a bit tonight and Sunday. A strong upper air trough of low pressure (“U” shape in the jet stream will be rolling through Oregon keeping the moisture level up. A frontal system will push southward into Washington and Oregon bringing colder air south producing falling temperatures and falling snow levels so be aware that driving conditions could get slippery, particularly when overnight temperatures are near or below freezing.

It’s time for my weekly weather quiz question. Since the Hurricane season  for this year is almost over (it ends November 30th) I thought this would be an interesting question. What is the longest period of time on record without a hurricane hitting the United States?  Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.

The upper air flow is swinging from the northwest over the Pacific Northwest to bring us more moisture. A frontal system is moving in increasing the chances for rain and mountain snow. A series of frontal systems will march through this week into the weekend to keep us wet and we will seriously cool down by late in the week.
