Sorry, no winner this week. Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. We have all heard the word “Eureka” used when someone makes an unexpected discovery. The question is who in history is quoted shouting “Eureka” when he made a discovery and what was the discovery? Here is the answer. The answer is Archimedes. The discovery occurred when he stepped into the bath. He was trying to come up with a way to discover the difference between pure gold and gold that was diluted with silver. What he discovered when he stepped into the bath was that and solid body displaces the same amount of water. That means the pure gold of a specific size would always displace the same amount of water and the diluted gold of the same size would displace a different amount of water. I’ll have a new weekly weather quiz for you starting next Monday. Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count.

A high pressure ridge (“Arch” shape on the yellow line) is moving eastward away from Oregon as the next trough of low pressure trough (“U” shape on the jet stream) approaches returning the clouds. A frontal system is moving through the Pacific Northwest with another front right behind it continuing the wet weather. Yet another frontal system (position shown for Wednesday) with others following behind it will continue the threat of rain next week.
