Another upper level trough of low pressure has moved down from the Gulf of Alaska. A frontal system slowly moved through Oregon on Thursday. Part of that storm moved through Northern California spinning precipitation into the area mainly between Roseburg and Medford. That upper level low will continue hanging around keeping our weather showery. A new frontal system will be approaching the Pacific Northwest Christmas morning. Sorry, no white Christmas for the valleys only the mountains.

A high pressure ridge (shaded “Arch” shape) has flattened which means our airflow is now moving from west to east (called zonal flow) and low pressure is moving down from the Gulf of Alaska.  A frontal system has moved through oregon carrying more moisture to us and colder air behind it. This frontal system will approach the Pacific Coast Thursday increasing rain chances again. For skiers Mt. Ashland and Hoodoo are open and Willamette Pass plans to open their season Wednesday.
