No winner this week. Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. What is the difference between “weather” and “climate?” Here is the correct answer. The state of the atmosphere with respect to wind, temperature, cloudiness, moisture, pressure, etc. Weather refers to these conditions at a given point in time (e.g., today’s high temperature), whereas Climate refers to the “average” weather conditions for an area over a long period of time (e.g., the average high temperature for today’s date). I’ll have a new weekly weather quiz question for you on Monday. Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.

Note: Don’t forget that we go to Daylight Saving Time tonight. The skies should be clear enough to enjoy the extra daylight Sunday. Remember to turn your clocks ahead one hour at bedtime tonight (Officially at 2 AM Sunday). It’s also time to check the batteries in your smoke detectors, CO detectors, and any other safety detectors you might so says the fire department.

A new high pressure ridge has taken over and will  keep the storms away but we might see some drizzle or light rain Sunday afternoon into Monday afternoon before the serious chance of rain returns Monday night.  An upper level trough of low pressure (Shaded “U” shape) will approach the Pacific Northwest by midweek returning more clouds and the chance of precipitation.  A frontal system looks like it will get stuck as a stationary front well north of us early in the week and start moving in midweek.

Note: Don’t forget that we go Daylight Saving Time this weekend. The skies should be clear enough to enjoy the extra daylight Sunday. Remember to turn your clocks ahead one hour at bedtime Saturday night (Officially at 2 AM Sunday). It’s also time to check the batteries in your smoke detectors and CO detectors, if you have them and you should have them, so says the fire department.

An upper level trough of low pressure (Shaded “U” shape) is sliding through the Pacific Northwest spreading showers . A new high pressure ridge (Shaded “Arch” shape) dries us out Friday through the weekend and then a new trough takes over early next week. A frontal system looks like it will get stuck as a stationary front well north of us next week and move in midweek.
