Here is my weekly weather quiz question. What is a “Dry Thunderstorm?” The first person to post the correct answer as a comment on this page will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. Good luck.

________________

We are seeing an increase in marine airflow which cools us down. The Upper Level High Pressure Ridge has weakened enough to allow the chance in surface air movement and an Upper Level Low in the far Southwest U.S. keep the chance of getting wet with us for another day. The graphics for days 1-3 show surface low pressure moving eastward. The graphics for days 3-7 show a series of storm systems that will approach and try to move through the Pacific Northwest Saturday through next Wednesday.

There is even another frontal system located well offshore Sunday heading our way next week.

Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. What is  “Dry floodproofing?”  Here is the correct answer.  Dry Floodproofing in hydrologic terms, a dry floodproofed building is sealed against floodwaters. All areas below the flood protection level are made watertight. Walls are coated with waterproofing compounds or plastic sheeting. Openings like doors windows, sewer lines and vents are closed, whether permanently, with removable shields, or with sandbags. The flood protection level should be no more than 2 or 3 feet above the top of the foundation because the buildings walls and floors cannot withstand the pressure of deeper water. I’ll have a new weekly weather quiz question for you Monday. The first person to post the correct answer as a comment on this page will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. Good luck.

The flood protection level should be no more than 2 or 3 feet above the top of the foundation because the buildings walls and floors cannot withstand the pressure of deeper water.I’ll have a new weekly weather quiz question for you Monday. The first person to post the correct answer as a comment on this page will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. Good luck.
