Sorry but no winner for my weekly weather quiz question. Here it is again. Who discovered Halley’s comet? I’m sure many of you think the answer is Sir Edmond Halley, but he did not actually discover it. Chinese records dating as far back as 1059 B.C. describe the comet. Pope Calixtus III called it “an agent of the Devil” in 1456. Sir Edmond Halley discovered the repetitious nature of the big comet’s appearances in the sky and correctly predicted that the comet of 1682 would return in 1758. It did show up that year and even though Halley had died the comet was named after him posthumously. I’ll have a new weekly weather quiz beginning next Monday. The first person to post the correct answer will win one free week of personalized forecasts tailored to your needs. Good luck.

_______________

Another  upper level trough of low pressure (Shaded “U” area with blue arrows will move down from off the coast of British Columbia keeping us under a wet and colder than normal weather pattern. There will be a short break from Sunday into early next week, but don’t be surprised is some sprinkles sneak their way into that “dry period”, it’s happened many times before. Another storm system will approach the Oregon coast early next week.
