Attention sky watchers!

Tomorrow morning, June 26th, there’s going to be a lunar eclipse—and for many residents of the USA, it’s going to be a big one.

The eclipse begins at 3:17 am PDT  when the Moon enters the sunset-colored shadow of Earth. By 4:38 am PDT, the moment of greatest eclipse, 54% of the Moon’s diameter will be covered. From beginning to end, the event lasts almost three hours. Find a place where you can see the Eastern horizon and enjoy the show.

_______________

The jet stream will be sending waves of alternating weak high pressure and low pressure over the weekend through next week. The result will be a continuation of the unsettled weather pattern that will be a roller coaster from some clouds with a slight chance of drizzle to more sun and dry and back again.

Here is my new weekly weather quiz question. What is the difference between a hurricane and a typhoon? Please post your answer as a comment after the forecasts. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to their needs. Good luck.

_______________

An upper level low (watch the yellow “U” shaped line) is moving out and weak high pressure will move in for  24 to 36 hours, but another area of low pressure will move back toward the end of the week. Summer officially began at 4:28 AM Pacific Daylight Time today. What about the Summer weather? It looks like we’ll get a taste of it for the next day or two, then by Saturday a cold front will drop down from the northwest doing not much more than cool us a bit.

_______________

Advisories:  NONE AT THIS TIME.
