The eclipse begins at 3:17 am PDT  when the Moon enters the sunset-colored shadow of Earth. By 4:38 am PDT, the moment of greatest eclipse, 54% of the Moon’s diameter will be covered. From beginning to end, the event lasts almost three hours. Find a place where you can see the Eastern horizon and enjoy the show.

The jet stream will be sending waves of alternating weak high pressure and low pressure over the rest of the week into the weekend. The result will be a continuation of the unsettled weather pattern that will be a roller coaster from clouds with a chance of sprinkles to more sun and dry and back again. Look at the surface maps and you’ll see high pressure at the surface and a weak cold front over the Pacific will bring just the chance of sprinkles.

An upper level low (watch the yellow “U” shaped line) is moving out and weak high pressure will move in for  24 to 36 hours, but another area of low pressure will move back toward the end of the week. Summer is finally here. What about the Summer weather? It looks like we’ll get a taste of it for the next day or two, then by Saturday a cold front will drop down from the northwest doing not much more than cool us a bit.
