No winner this week. Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. What is a “Wasatch Wind?” Here is the correct answer. A Wasatch Wind is a strong easterly wind blowing out of the mouths of the canyons of the Wasatch Mountains onto the plains of Utah. Also called canyon wind. I’ll have a new weekly weather quiz question starting Monday. Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.

An upper level high pressure ridge (shaded “Arch” shape) that has been dominating our weather pattern will move away from us slowly.  Here’s the cold front that will help get mom wet on her day tomorrow. An upper level low (Shaded “U” shape) will move up to the Oregon coast shifting the airflow from the southwest just in time for Mother’s Day on Sunday. Another cold front should be approaching the Oregon coast by Wednesday.

An upper level high pressure ridge (shaded “Arch” shape) has been dominating our weather pattern. An upper level low (Circular shape made of blue arrows) rotating counter clockwise over California will produce the chance of thunderstorms in the mountains and in the Umpqua Valley as it slowly moves southeastward away from us. We’ll have more warmer than normal temperatures as temps rise to around 80 again. An upper level low (Shaded “U” shape) will move up to the Oregon coast shifting the airflow from the southwest just in time for Mother’s Day. The next cold front that will effect Oregon won’t appear until Sunday into Monday.
