Here is my weather quiz question for this week. Give it a try. Who created the “F” scale to determine the strength of tornadoes? Please post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments/comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized  weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.
_______________
An upper air trough of low pressure (“U” shape) moved across Oregon and another weak one is close behind. High pressure (“arch” shape) will clear out the clouds and rain for Friday, but then back to wet as a low pressure trough and another frontal system move in for the weekend. Sorry, but you’ll need an umbrella or a coat to protect your Easter outfit for “Sunrise Services” and the rest of the day Sunday. It might be a good idea to have Easter egg hunts indoors if possible.

An upper air trough of low pressure (“U” shape) moved across Oregon. A cold front moved through the Pacific Northwest Saturday giving us more rain than expected. The airflow has straighten out quite a bit has decreased the cloud cover. That means a pretty good look , chilly though it may be in the dark of the early AM, at the moon that was the Full Pink Moon Sunday. Another day of sunshine looking a lot more like Spring. There will be more clouds with slight chances of getting wet Wednesday and Thursday, drying out Friday, but then back to wet as another strong frontal system for the weekend.

An upper air trough of low pressure (“U” shape) moved across Oregon. A cold front moved through the Pacific Northwest Saturday giving us more rain than expected. The airflow will straighten out quite a bit and that will decrease the flow of colder air that has been coming out of the Gulf of Alaska. Low pressure rolled up the cold front that pushed through Saturday keeping the chance of showers around. The result will be slowly warming temperatures and more sunshine. So far I expect big break from the rain for your Monday and Tuesday (where have we heard that before) with slight chances of getting wet Wednesday and Thursday, dry Friday, then back to wet next weekend. The next serious frontal system should be here by next weekend.

Error,Error!
_______________
I have to apologize for a technical error that led me to believe we had no winner in this week’s weather quiz question. Here is the question once again with the correct answer that was posted. In the Willamette Valley what does it mean when you see large numbers of sea gulls gathering at school and supermarket parking lots?  Leslie Prieto was the first person to post the following correct answer. “They hang around parking lots, especially in rough weather. Birds are often carried to different locations by the winds of storms. If the sea is too rough, they go inland for a while. If the lot has the right wind currents around it so that the seagulls can ride the currents without expending energy while hanging around waiting for feeding opportunities.” I’ll have a new weekly weather quiz question for you starting next Monday.
_______________
An upper air trough of low pressure (“U” shape) moved across Oregon. A cold front moved through the Pacific Northwest Saturday giving us more rain than expected. The airflow will straighten out quite a bit and that will decrease the flow of colder air that has been coming out of the Gulf of Alaska. Low pressure is rolling up the cold front that pushed through Saturday keeping the chance of showers around today. The result will be slowly warming temperatures, but it will still be wet. So far a big break from the rain is expected for your Tuesday (where have we heard that before) with slight chances of getting wet the rest of the week. The next serious frontal system should be here by Saturday.

_______________
Sorry, no winner this week.  Here, for the last time, is my weather quiz question. In the Willamette Valley what does it mean when you see large numbers of sea gulls gathering at school and supermarket parking lots? Some posted answers have been close but not exactly what I was looking for. The answer is the birds are riding in on the higher winds most often produced ahead of strong storms as they approach the coast. They don’t have to flap their wings as hard due to the higher tail wind and they travel to the areas where they can easily find food. School and supermarket parking lots always have some dropped or discarded scraps of food on them. I’ll have another weekly weather quiz question for you starting next Monday. Please post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments/commemnts” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized  weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.

An upper air trough of low pressure (“U” shape) moves across Oregon. A warm front is on its way through the Pacific Northwest with a cold front behind it. That means more precipitation this AM. Late this afternoon through Sunday should, and I emphasize should, be for the most part dry, then more storms will bring back the rain for next week. The airflow will straighten out quite a bit and that will decrease the flow of colder air that has been coming out of the Gulf of Alaska. The result will be slowly warming temperatures.
